JOB REQUIREMENTS:
SB1124 that went into effect 9/1/23 states:
All candidates to be a Sheriff in Texas must now have a Peace Officer’s license and a minimum of 5 years’ experience.
Tom Pohlman meets these requirements with 33 years in law enforcement and holds a Texas Master Peace Officer Certification. He is the ONLY qualified candidateāā
ACCOMPLISHMENTS:
In the few months since taking over as your Sheriff, he has renewed patrols throughout the county. Sheriff Pohlman has followed up and provided his deputies with appropriate uniforms, body armor, body cameras, and tasers. Subjects with long outstanding warrants have been apprehended, and current lawbreakers have been brought before the courts.
Sheriff Pohlman has worked at rebuilding relationships with local prosecuting attorneys, as well as other members of the Judicial Branch. He has developed working agreements with surrounding law enforcement agencies, but most importantly, he has worked non-stop at creating a positive environment within the Sheriff’s Office, clearly visible by the fact he has, for the first time in several years, a full staff on patrol to serve Fisher County.
There is still work to be done, but with Sheriff Pohlman continuing, the Fisher County Sheriff’s Office is on the way to being as well respected as it deserves to be within the region and state
